Donations
Donations are very important to us, whether they are for general purposes or for specific projects.
HELP US COMPLETE OUR PLAN TO REDEVELOP THE SYNAGOGUE
In order to secure the future of the Synagogue and improve our building we have put in hand a detailed plan. The sale of the Farm Road part of the building has now been completed and the funds now available from that sale will provide part of the money that is required to redevelop the remaining building to make it an exciting workable more affordable modern sustainable space. With your support we hope to start the building work early in 2012.
We have engaged the services of architects and other professionals to help us but we need all types of assistance and for that we are looking to members of our congregation and to the wider community. Substantial further funds have to be raised to see the project to fruition and we need your help. Every donation we receive is important however small.
HOW TO GIVE
You can give in many ways for example by regular donation, cheque, cash, direct debit, standing order, bank transfer, shares, property, in memoriam for friends and relatives or by wills and legacies or even PayPal.
For individuals GIFT AID is the simplest and most effective method of tax-efficient giving. You can make donations to the Synagogue using the methods mentioned above at any time. If you pay UK tax we can then recover income tax from the taxman.
For us to benefit from the Gift Aid scheme you must complete a gift aid declaration in favour of the Synagogue. The form required can be downloaded from this website here, the HMRC website or obtained from the Synagogue.
There is no maximum limit to the amount you can give. All you have to be is a UK taxpayer, paying tax of at least as much as we can reclaim. We will reclaim the tax on your donations.
If you are not a UK taxpayer, you can still give to the Synagogue but we will not be able to recover tax.
If a business is a limited company, it could receive tax relief on its giving in a different way to individuals, and the individual Gift Aid rules do not apply to corporate giving.
Businesses which are sole traders or partnerships are able to use the Gift Aid rules to enhance their giving.
Limited companies, however, are able to treat qualifying gifts as a business expense, and deduct the payments from their profits for the year, reducing the Corporation Tax bill payable on the year’s results.
Please help by supporting Brighton and Hove Progressive Synagogue (whether by way of a General Donation or a donation to Our Building Fund to complete our exciting redevelopment plans) and help to secure the future of the Synagogue.
